Bread of Life

Prayer...

Prayer is, in the strictest sense, a humble religious petition of man to God to seek divine benevolence and benefits he needs for life, both temporal and eternal. It is a conversation with God, either by accepted prayer forms, or from the heart. Consider these words as if God were speaking them to His children...

"It is not necessary my child, to know much in order to please me much; it is enough that you love me fervently. Speak here to me then, as you would speak to your most intimate friend, to your mother, to your brother."

~God your Father~

He Gave His Only Son

"Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."

John 21:29

Silent Faith

by Deacon Mike Caldwell

There was probably no more silent a saint in scripture greater than Joseph, Husband of Mary. How many words do you think are recorded in the bible quoted from St. Joseph? I can't swear to it but I am thinking zero. The few words in scripture that we all remember regarding his ministry here on earth are stories about his protection of Mary and Jesus. About his zeal for his religion and his compassion for Mary when he decided to silently divorce her rather than publicly condemn her. It was his faith in God that preserved for us the Holy Family, gave Jesus legal status in a society that honored that above many things, and saved Jesus from King Herod and other threats. It was Joseph's silent faith that we can honor today and for days to come.

It is your silent faith that honors us and gives glory to God.

It was his faith in God....
...that preserved for us the Holy Family.

  • It was through your faith that you decided to get married. Logic may have told you that living together is okay, you don't need the piece of paper to prove your love, or we can save money by being single but still enjoy conjugal love. But you listened to God's commandments and look at the good it has done.

  • It was through your faith that you decided to have children. Logic may have told you that you can save money by not having children, children can be inconvenient, or we can wait until we think it is right. But you were open to life and look at the good it has done.

  • It was through your faith that you decided to start a new ministry at church. Logic may have told you that you don't have the talents, this ministry is not needed, or someone else can do the work. But you were open to God's will and look at the good it has done.
  • Never underestimate the power of God and His ability to work through your silent faith. It is through your faith that preserves zeal for our religion, demonstrates our compassion for our neighbor, and gives glory to God.

    Never underestimate ...
    ...the power of God.
