Bread of Life

Prayer...

Prayer is, in the strictest sense, a humble religious petition of man to God to seek divine benevolence and benefits he needs for life, both temporal and eternal. It is a conversation with God, either by accepted prayer forms, or from the heart. Consider these words as if God were speaking them to His children...

"It is not necessary my child, to know much in order to please me much; it is enough that you love me fervently. Speak here to me then, as you would speak to your most intimate friend, to your mother, to your brother."

~God your Father~

He Gave His Only Son

"Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."

John 21:29

Tell the Good News

by Deacon Mike Caldwell

You remember the gospel story where Jesus told the Apostles to go and preach the good news but go with no provisions? The Apostles were asked to go tell the good news with no extra food, supplies, clothing, etc. Why? The message is that God will give you the words, you don't need extras. Extras come from us and we tend to add our own words to the gospel based on our life experiences. People don't need to hear about you, they need to hear about Jesus and God and the message of love.

God will give you the words...
...you don't need extras

Also, telling the good news is not always about words. Your actions tell the story too. You have to think about your actions and how they reflect the gospel of Jesus. When you are going about your daily activities, you might ask yourself if these actions of mine reflect the teachings of Jesus. Would you like your actions to be reported the 6 O'Clock news tonight? We do many things in our life because we think no one is watching. Guess what? God is watching.

People don't need to hear about you...
...they need to hear about Jesus and God.

I think we are all shy about talking about "God stuff" because we don't always feel confident in our knowledge. Two points. You are not expected to be a theology scholar. I know I'm not. If you talk from the heart, people will listen. And, you could probably brush up on your knowledge anyway. Take the time to do a little bible study now and then.

A couple of things you can do. When people ask how you are, say "Blessed." They won't expect that and it will make them think about their own blessings. When people make innappropriate remarks (like sexist or racist) tell them that you are uncomfortable with their language. Just say it with love.

You are blessed by the Almighty God, share the love
