Prayer is, in the strictest sense, a humble religious petition of man to God to seek divine benevolence and benefits he needs for life, both temporal and eternal. It is a conversation with God, either by accepted prayer forms, or from the heart. Consider these words as if God were speaking them to His children...
"It is not necessary my child, to know much in order to please me much; it is enough that you love me fervently. Speak here to me then, as you would speak to your most intimate friend, to your mother, to your brother." ~God your Father~

He Gave His Only Son
"Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."
John 21:29
Quotes to Live By- There should be less talk. A preaching point is not a meeting point.
- The dying, the cripple, the mental, the unwanted, the unloved-- they are Jesus in disguise.
- In the West there is loneliness, which I call the leprosy of the West. In many ways it is worse than our poor in Calcutta. (Commonweal, Dec 19, 1997)
- It is not how much we do, but how much love we put in the doing. It is not how much we give, but how much love we put in the giving.
- The poor give us much more than we give them. They're such strong people, living day to day with no food. and they never curse, never complain. We don't have to give them pity or sympathy. We have so much to learn from them.
- I see God in every human being. When I wash the leper's wounds, I feel I am nursing the Lord himself. Is it not a beautiful experience?
- I do not pray for success. I ask for faithfulness.
- Let us not be satisfied with just giving money. Money is not enough, money can be got, but they need your hearts to love them. So, spread your love everywhere you go.
- If you judge people, you have no time to love them.

Matthew 6, 22-23
"The lamp of the body is the eye. If your eye is sound, your whole body will be filled with light; but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be in darkness. And if the light in you is darkness, how great will the darkness be.
What does it mean, are your eyes good? Is your body filled with light, or is your light darkness? Can we change, and how does that happen?
If we work to see God in all things, our eyes are good. We, as Disciples of Christ will be enlightened as Jesus teaches us to experience and give love through God's word. When we are full of God's light, we can't help but shine His light into the world and share the warmth of Jesus' eternal love for us.
When we choose anything but Jesus as our light, like earthly riches, we will experience a temporary illusion of happiness, and our "light" will be darkness. Enjoying your life and your stuff is alright, because all is gift. The key is to enjoy our things, and be careful not to place value on them. In Scripture, Jesus says, "sell it all and come follow me," which helps to remind us not to let the flesh of the world interfere with us following God.
I have sung and prayed "Open the eyes of my heart Lord". In prayer, you can ask Jesus to change you, to make you a light, to let you see the world with loving eyes as He does. We can invite the Holy Spirit to help us by praying:
"Lord Jesus, fill me with the presence of your Holy Spirit and with the gifts You want me to use. Show me when and how to use them. And help me to overcome my pride and fears and any other sins that are holding me back from the works that You are calling me to do. I want to be Your hands, Your feet, and Your voice, Amen!"
Prayer changes things...pray, pray, pray, everyday...and experience a life filled with light through our Lord, Jesus Christ.
