Bread of Life

Prayer...

Prayer is, in the strictest sense, a humble religious petition of man to God to seek divine benevolence and benefits he needs for life, both temporal and eternal. It is a conversation with God, either by accepted prayer forms, or from the heart. Consider these words as if God were speaking them to His children...

"It is not necessary my child, to know much in order to please me much; it is enough that you love me fervently. Speak here to me then, as you would speak to your most intimate friend, to your mother, to your brother."

~God your Father~

He Gave His Only Son

"Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."

John 21:29

How Important is Our Love for Each Other?

by Deacon Mike Caldwell

In Matthew 5:22 Jesus clarified the commandment to not kill to include not being angry with your brother. One reason Jesus did this was because many in those days were okay with anger as long as it stopped before you actually killed the person. That's one problem with relying solely on the written law to direct your lives. When we follow the letter of law we may feel like we are okay with God. However, this gives us permission to disrespect God because we are following the law after all.

When we follow the letter of the law ...
...we may feel like we are OK with God.

God is not okay with us being angry with our brothers and sisters. Anger is a sin against love and God is love. We disrespect God because our anger against each other disrupts the free flow of the Holy Spirit within the Body of Christ. In essence we are discouraging the will of God.

In essence...
...we are discouraging the will of God.

Sin separates us from God. The sin against love is especially egregious to God because love is the lifeblood or spirit force that enlivens that creature, man, made in God's image. Without love, our lives are against everything that we were created for.

Bottom line, you must love your neighbor and there is no love in prejudice, racism, sexism, or any form that belittles your brother or sister.
