Prayer is, in the strictest sense, a humble religious petition of man to God to seek divine benevolence and benefits he needs for life, both temporal and eternal. It is a conversation with God, either by accepted prayer forms, or from the heart. Consider these words as if God were speaking them to His children...
"It is not necessary my child, to know much in order to please me much; it is enough that you love me fervently. Speak here to me then, as you would speak to your most intimate friend, to your mother, to your brother." ~God your Father~

He Gave His Only Son
"Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."
John 21:29
Quotes to Live By- There should be less talk. A preaching point is not a meeting point.
- The dying, the cripple, the mental, the unwanted, the unloved-- they are Jesus in disguise.
- In the West there is loneliness, which I call the leprosy of the West. In many ways it is worse than our poor in Calcutta. (Commonweal, Dec 19, 1997)
- It is not how much we do, but how much love we put in the doing. It is not how much we give, but how much love we put in the giving.
- The poor give us much more than we give them. They're such strong people, living day to day with no food. and they never curse, never complain. We don't have to give them pity or sympathy. We have so much to learn from them.
- I see God in every human being. When I wash the leper's wounds, I feel I am nursing the Lord himself. Is it not a beautiful experience?
- I do not pray for success. I ask for faithfulness.
- Let us not be satisfied with just giving money. Money is not enough, money can be got, but they need your hearts to love them. So, spread your love everywhere you go.
- If you judge people, you have no time to love them.

Do not be conquered by evil but conquer evil with good.
Now there is a verse that is packed with so much meaning. It can be so hard to do this when it seems that evil is surrounding us every where we turn. We can be hurt by another, something they say or do or don't do, and it is the bad side of human nature to strike back. It can be with the silent treatment or lashing out but both counts as a strike back to the evil bestowed on us. If someone hurts us we want to defend ourselves, it's self preservation. This can be at the expense of the one that hurt us or those around us that we discuss the matter with. The evil also doesn't have to come from another person, we can have it right in ourselves, and hurt or destroy ourselves without anyone else doing anything. And don't you think Satan is there, sitting smugly, laughing at us?
God has the upper hand, He has won the war, and we need to keep Him in the battle with us at all times. The more we rely on His power and not our own the easier it will be to deal with all the evils in the world. He's made it so easy for us to turn from that evil and go with His love. Only speak His name and we can be saved from all the pain that is out there. He can direct us in the way of love. We have to keep Him in the forefront of our minds, He'll be there always for us, and He can help us through it all. God will ultimately deal justly with all, including those who inflict injury on others.
When you're in the mist of evil it's easy to forget to call to our Father. We must help each other; remind each other of his holiness and His lifeline. Turn to Him in prayer, in the sacraments, with the help of His saints, His mother, our holy friends.
Perfect us in love, Lord!
