Prayer is, in the strictest sense, a humble religious petition of man to God to seek divine benevolence and benefits he needs for life, both temporal and eternal. It is a conversation with God, either by accepted prayer forms, or from the heart. Consider these words as if God were speaking them to His children...
"It is not necessary my child, to know much in order to please me much; it is enough that you love me fervently. Speak here to me then, as you would speak to your most intimate friend, to your mother, to your brother." ~God your Father~

He Gave His Only Son
"Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."
John 21:29
Quotes to Live By- There should be less talk. A preaching point is not a meeting point.
- The dying, the cripple, the mental, the unwanted, the unloved-- they are Jesus in disguise.
- In the West there is loneliness, which I call the leprosy of the West. In many ways it is worse than our poor in Calcutta. (Commonweal, Dec 19, 1997)
- It is not how much we do, but how much love we put in the doing. It is not how much we give, but how much love we put in the giving.
- The poor give us much more than we give them. They're such strong people, living day to day with no food. and they never curse, never complain. We don't have to give them pity or sympathy. We have so much to learn from them.
- I see God in every human being. When I wash the leper's wounds, I feel I am nursing the Lord himself. Is it not a beautiful experience?
- I do not pray for success. I ask for faithfulness.
- Let us not be satisfied with just giving money. Money is not enough, money can be got, but they need your hearts to love them. So, spread your love everywhere you go.
- If you judge people, you have no time to love them.

I am just like every one else when it comes to prayer. Prayer can be a foreign concept to us because it is not like any other form of communication. Communication with our fellow human beings can be complicated enough. With God we wonder if he is listening, are we doing it right, how can we pray constantly, or our prayer life becomes stale. There is much that could be said about this but let me just mention one thing, consider how you might condition yourself to be receptive to prayer.
Proper Diet: What you take into your body, heart, and soul will determine the health of your spirituality. The people that you associate with, the television that you watch, the music that you listen to, and the entertainment that you enjoy all have a way of forming your spiritual body. A strong spiritual life will make you more receptive to God's word and the will of God.
Prayer Partners: We all could use a little help now and then. As Jesus left this earth after his resurrection, he left us with the Holy Spirit to help us in all ways, especially prayer. We know that the Holy Spirit is with us and will certainly help us pray if we rely on that help. Mother Mary has maternal instincts and wants us to succeed in prayer. Ask Mary to pray for us in all ways including prayer. There are many saints that we could ask to intercede for us. Ask your friends, family, or friendly pastor to pray for us too.
Spiritual Endurance: When you don't know what to do about prayer, just do it. We learn to pray through experience. The best way to get started is to make an appointment first thing in the morning. Praying first thing in the morning gives the day focus and spiritual endurance.
Whatever it takes, make sure you pray. The devil is most happy when we are not praying because then we are not finding communion with God. Seek communion with God.
