Bread of Life
Prayer...

Prayer is, in the strictest sense, a humble religious petition of man to God to seek divine benevolence and benefits he needs for life, both temporal and eternal. It is a conversation with God, either by accepted prayer forms, or from the heart. Consider these words as if God were speaking them to His children...

"It is not necessary my child, to know much in order to please me much; it is enough that you love me fervently. Speak here to me then, as you would speak to your most intimate friend, to your mother, to your brother."

~God your Father~

He Gave His Only Son

"Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."

John 21:29

Prayer of the Moment

by Mike Caldwell

I have heard it said that we should pray all ways. Sometimes this is easier said than done. Many of us have been brought up where prayers are said in specific places (church, funeral homes, dinner table, etc.) and for specific purposes (church services, funerals, weddings, or grace before meals). The concept that prayers are for all ways has been foreign to most of us. This is unfortunate but not irreversible.

We have to begin considering that prayer is the most intimate form of communication between God and us. God our Father, just like your parent, desires to hear from us continuously. I know that I like to hear from my children as often as they would call or visit. If you do not have this same relationship with your parents remember that God is the perfect parent, He loves you as if you were His only child. God does desire to hear from you.

This is unfortunate...
...but not irreversible.

Communication is a two-way street. You talk to God but you must listen to his answer. I must say that I have never heard voices when God talks to me. God talks to me in the recesses of my mind. God talks to me when I am quiet and listen. God gives me direction, comfort, love, advice, forgiveness, assistance, gratitude – essentially all in all.

One way to pray all ways... ...
...is to pray for the moment.

One way to pray all ways is to pray for the moment.

  • Happy moments, praise God – when you are driving down Division street and cars miraculously clear the way for that left-hand turn, you are happy, praise God.

  • Difficult moments, seek God – when you are confronted with that co-worker who always knows how to push your buttons, don’t punch him/her, seek intervention from God.

  • Quiet moments, worship God – make time during your busy day to be quiet with the Lord.

  • Painful moments, trust God – when you experience heartaches in your life, trust that God knows what He is doing.

  • Every moment, thank God – every breath is a prayer, thank God for the gift of life!
