Bread of Life
Prayer...

Prayer is, in the strictest sense, a humble religious petition of man to God to seek divine benevolence and benefits he needs for life, both temporal and eternal. It is a conversation with God, either by accepted prayer forms, or from the heart. Consider these words as if God were speaking them to His children...

"It is not necessary my child, to know much in order to please me much; it is enough that you love me fervently. Speak here to me then, as you would speak to your most intimate friend, to your mother, to your brother."

~God your Father~

He Gave His Only Son

"Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."

John 21:29

Who Do We Grieve?

by Patti LaRue

Today, on this Good Friday, when you kneel before the cross, and find yourself feeling pain and sorrow or perhaps even deep grief. Ask yourself this question.

Why am I grieving....
...who am I grieving?

Why am I grieving? For whom am I grieving?

Are you grieving for the Christ who poured out his blood for all of our sins? Are you grieving for all the pain that he must have felt physically and mentally as he hung there for all the world to see, in disgrace and abandoned by his friends?

If that is for whom you grieve, then you would be misguided. Remember what Christ himself told the women on his road to the cross “Weep not for me but for all the women and children.”

Grieve not for Christ... ...
...for he gave up himself freely.

We need to grieve for those who sent Him to the cross, we need to pray for their eternal forgiveness. We need to grieve for all those who have yet to discover Christ’s love for them. We need to grieve for those who are lost and lonely. We need to grieve for those who do not know or understand the forgiveness that hangs upon the cross.

But most importantly, we need to grieve for ourselves because it was our sins that put him there. And it is our sins that continue to put him there on a daily basis.

Grieve not for Christ, for he gave up himself freely. Just as he asks us, give up ourselves and allow his love to wash away our sins.
