Bread of Life
Prayer...

Prayer is, in the strictest sense, a humble religious petition of man to God to seek divine benevolence and benefits he needs for life, both temporal and eternal. It is a conversation with God, either by accepted prayer forms, or from the heart. Consider these words as if God were speaking them to His children...

"It is not necessary my child, to know much in order to please me much; it is enough that you love me fervently. Speak here to me then, as you would speak to your most intimate friend, to your mother, to your brother."

~God your Father~

He Gave His Only Son

"Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."

John 21:29

The Heart of a Volunteer

by Patti LaRue

There are so many ways that we can give back to God for all that he gives us. We just only need to open up our hearts and listen for his call.

Christ during his time on earth with us gathered many of whom we called disciples, he called all of them to not only volunteer their services to him but to volunteer their entire lives, leaving behind all that they were familiar with, all that they were comfortable with.

We just only need to open up our hearts....
...and listen for his call.

And what did they do? We all should know what they did, they gave up all they knew and all that they had to freely and willingly volunteer themselves to Christ and his teachings.

Each and every one of us are called to be disciples or volunteers for Christ. Each and every one of us should feel the need to find some way in which we can volunteer ourselves in order to better our lives, enrich others lives, enrich the life of the church in which we are a part of.

Coming to church once a week is wonderful, but to just be part of the surroundings and not entering into the life of the church is a far cry from what Christ really wants us to do. So many things within the church cry out for people to step up and volunteer themselves. So many opportunities to give back and many take very little effort, just a love for God and a little commitment.

Give freely from the heart..... ...
...and the rewards from God will be endless.

Although most volunteering does not require you to give up all that you know and all that you are comfortable with, as it did for the first disciples of Christ. It does require sincerity of heart and true devotion to God. As a volunteer for Christ and his church you need to commit yourself to what you have chosen to pursue. The concept of "I'm just a volunteer." shouldn't stop you from doing your absolute best for that which you have decided to participate in. When you volunteer yourself, you are making a promise to God and if you can't commit to that promise, then you've failed not only yourself but all those around you, but most importantly, God. We shouldn't expect recompense for our efforts, we should freely want to give back to God for all that he has done for us, all that he continues to do for us.

Give freely and without constraints and the rewards from God will be endless and will last an eternity and not just a lifetime.

Open your heart to what Christ calls you to do, become a volunteer for Jesus Christ and your life will never be the same.
