Old Business
Approved January minutes.

Pray All-Ways Campaign:

The committee will do the February 29th Stations of the Cross and Humble Dinner. They plan to hand out palm leaves and prayers during the Palm Sunday weekend. Father John accepted the ideas of the committee for Holy Thursday and Easter Sunday.

Holy Thursday – Father is to ask everyone to turn to the person next to them and tell them that they will pray for peace, love, joy, or harmony in their lives. He will instruct them to pick just one and then turn to that person and promise to pray for that one thing in that person’s life. He will also be given two of the best-written testimonials from the campaign and read them to the congregation before the washing of the feet.

Easter Sunday – Patti LaRue will count up all the minutes from the prayer pledge cards and give that total to Fr. John and he will announce the total minutes that have been pledged to the congregation.

Lenten prayers are being put in the bulletin on a weekly basis for each week of Lent.

Back to Prayer Night has speakers for the following months:

February – Mike Caldwell
March – Fr. John
April – Fr. David Shaw from St. Anne’s
May – Fr. David Brown.

Social Justice Committee:

The committee meets the first Monday of every month. Their first event is scheduled for April 22nd at 7:00 pm and the guest speaker will be Fr. Michael Kubler who will be speaking on Immigration.

Mike and David plan to meet with Fr. Michael the Friday prior to April 22nd in regards to the program. Announcements will be forthcoming in the bulletin.

New Business
Proposed Pastoral Council Election Process – Lori Burmester presented information on the discernment procedure. First two weeks the congregation to be invited to nominate someone to be considered for discernment. It was noted that it’s important that the parishioners and explained what discernment is and that there will be no voting on the candidates. After candidates have been chosen they would then be asked to write a few paragraphs about themselves having them answer important questions and then would be invited to a discernment retreat where they would get to know the council members and discuss their reasons for wanting to be part of the Pastoral Council. This would also include prayful contemplation.

Afterwards the Council would hold a discernment meeting where they would go over the candidates, ask God for guidance and then choose the candidates that they feel God has led them to.

This new process will have to be written into the Pastoral Council By-Laws. Kathy Keathley volunteered to write this into the By-Laws and will email a draft to all council members. The new process will be voted on by the council at the April meeting.

50+ Years Celebration – Fr. John noted that the Archbishop will be coming and he is trying to work out something with Matt Maher to come and perform. If not Matt Maher he knows of a couple others he can contact. Tom Booth being one. Father noted that he wants this to be a big event, hoping for a 1,000 people or more from all over the community.

Patti LaRue discussed the different things that are already planned for the event:

1.Outdoor mass at 9:00 am.
2.All day historical museum exhibit to be set up in the Social Room.
3.BBQ beginning at 11:00-11:30 am.
4.Free Concert to include the choir singing, Kathy Harris doing a couple of solo’s, possibly someone else who has volunteered from the church to perform and the tentative scheduling of Matt Maher as the star attraction. Concert will probably begin at around 4:00 or 5:00 pm and will probably last for at least 2 hours.

Committees that will be needed to run this event will be:

1.Main Planning Committee – Patti LaRue, Darlene Greiner & Mary Kapelczack chair persons.
2.Historical Committee – Kathy Keathley chairperson.
3.BBQ Committee – Bob Anderson chairperson.
4.Decorating Committee – Kim Malen or Nancy Anderson chair person/s.
5.Music/Concert Committee – Kathy Harris chairperson.
6.Set Up & Clean Up Committee –
7.Advertising Committee – Patti LaRue chairperson.
8.Security Committee –

This event will require a huge budget and the church will pay for it but as Father noted, donations will be accepted. Father requested that the committees begin with coming up with an estimated budget so that Father can present this budget to the Financial Committee. The first meeting will be Sunday, February 17th, at 12:15 pm and those who are chair persons will be asked to begin on working on an estimated budget as their first assignment. Monthly meetings have already been reserved for Room 6 with 2 meetings in August and one meeting in September the week before the event is to take place. Ministry Sunday – First meeting is set for Sunday, February 24th, at 12:15 pm and all those who are involved in a ministry or organization have been invited to attend this meeting. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss how they want to represent their ministry and/or organization to the parishioners and to vote on a date to hold the Ministry Sunday. Patti LaRue and Mark Butler will handle the planning of this event.

Round Table:
Bill Standley proposed that the church buy linens for the tables in the Social Room. Father John and Bill will discuss this at a later date.

Lynette Loumena brought up a problem that occurred during mass regarding the reserved seats for the CCD teachers and Father John informed her and the council that this is something that he would take care of.

Adjournment
Next meeting: April 9th, at 6:00 pm in Room 3

Father John led the closing prayer.

Meeting adjourned at 6:55 pm.
