"I have sent you untiringly all my servant the prophets."...(Jer. 7:25)
Can you imagine if God got tired of us? I know if I was God I would get tired of me (smiles). Just think how
God is ceaselessly present to us, forgiving everyone for everything and never giving up on us. A person can
only cross me so many times before I am ready to give up on being totally loving and forgiving of that person.
God, in contrast, is totally pouring out all he is on everyone all the time. Amazing. So, I constantly thank
God that I am not God and he is.
God is untiringly reaching out to us with his word, which has the infinite power to transform us in his love.
Another example of this was readying myself to write this daily. I looked at my cell phone and the time read
10:10! You know what that means? In John 10:10 Jesus is talking to his followers -, which is them and anyone
who will choose to follow him. All are invited, called and allowed to follow Jesus. Jesus, who offers us a
life that is so good we cannot even begin to describe it with our limited words, says to each of us, "I have come
that you may have life and life to the overflowing." He, who is the source of all the goodness and love there is,
untiringly reaches out to us with that life. His offer for us is constantly on the table.
For the sake of thought and going deeper in our relationship with the one who offers us life and life to the
overflowing, let us imagine The Scriptures as one of God's main prophets that he sends us, inviting us into the
life that is him. The word of God comes to bring us from earth to life. It can turn any bad news into good
news - just look at the worst news ever - God crucified on the cross. What was the worst news ever became the
best news ever as the power of God's untiring word transformed Jesus' death into life for the whole world.
That is what the prophet of the Scriptures does for all people. Untiringly, if we would but sit at its feet and
believe, God would lead us deeper into his overflowing life.
Where is your Bible? Is it well worn and marked up? Collecting dust? In line behind the daily paper, Time or
People Magazine, the latest novel? Is it time to put first things first?
So many people coming to me wanting healing, forgiveness and answers. I wonder how much the prophet of The
Scriptures, untiringly reaching out to us with the healing, forgiveness and answers, would help?
