Meeting began at 6:00 pm

Opening
David opened the meeting with a reading from the Gospel.

Old Business
Lori went over the election process and listed the nominations for this years council election. Everyone took a few names off the list and will call these individuals to make sure that they want to be part of the council. Nominees will need to write a brief bio and also include a reason why they accepted the nomination and want to serve on the council.

It was decided that the election process will be mentioned two more times. Memorial Day weekend and the weekend of. Deacon Mike will be asked to announce it during the holiday weekend and David will ask Father John to remind everyone about the discernment the weekend of the event.

Lori will ask Deacon Mike to handle the actual discernment and will ask Father John to handle the spiritual part of it.

Also need someone to count the ballots.

It was decided that Father John be asked if the May 31st Discernment's time can be moved from 12:00 noon to 12:15 pm or 12:30 pm due to the KOC Breakfast.

New Business
David discussed the Vicariate meeting that he and Deacon Mike went to on May 9. He reported that most of the focus of the meeting was on Social Justice and the importance of all the churches getting involved.

It was discussed that parishes need to become more aware of the social needs of their own neighborhoods.

David also mentioned that on November 21st and November 22nd, the Archbishops Symposium will take place and either Father John or Deacon Mike should attend as well as two council members.

It was also discussed that Father John needs to appoint a new President of the council before September. David suggested that those interested in taking his place to make sure and let Father John know.

The June council meeting will be a pot luck with an overview of what the council is for new members, goodbyes from outgoing members and a few words from the new members.

Round Table
It was mentioned that the Pastoral Council wasn't exactly what they expected. It was discussed how basically the council is there to give advice to the priest and to help the priest visualize his ideas and dreams for the parish.

Marlene felt that it was still important to consider either remodeling the church or building a new one and it was mentioned that a task force should be set up to find out from parishioners what they would prefer and bring those findings to Father John.

It was also noted, even though the parking lot lines were approved a long time ago, they have yet to be painted.

Closing Prayer
Janet led the closing prayer.
