Old Business
Approved September and October minutes.
New Business:
Social Justice Committee:
Lillian Erwin talked about first meeting. Eight people were in attendance for the first meeting. One committee member owns a vineyard and talked about how they often donate wine for world peace and could do something like this.
The committee will try and raise the awareness in the church community about the social injustices in the community and the world.
Important issues that need to be addressed and brought to the attention of the community a few issues would be, the homeless, euthanasia, and immigration.
The committee will meet quarterly to discuss putting together events regarding social justice issues.
Will schedule an event for sometime after Easter. Father pointed out that a key issue should be immigration and where the Catholic Church stands on this issue.
Pray All-Ways Committee:
Patti LaRue discussed the progress of the committee which consists of 13 people. Discussed the schedule the committee will be following beginning with calling the parishioners in the first week through Christmas.
Cliff Jensen brought in the banners and would have them hung the weekend of November 10th and 11th.
Pray All-Ways buttons to arrive November 9th and the committee will begin to hand out the weekend of November 17th and 18th.
Mike Caldwell discussed brochures he designed that might be good to use during the campaign. The committee will vote on whether or not to add these brochures at their November 11th meeting.
Round Table:
It was suggested that the Pastoral Council needs to plan for a “Ministry Sunday” for September 2008, missed one for this time around.
Father John continued to encourage us to seek union with Christ, thanked all of the council for their continued involvement.
It was brought up that Claire Clow will be working on a new flyer for the council which will include the Pray All-Ways campaign.
Handicapped access to the basement was discussed for the many events that take place in the basement.
Website Update: It was brought to Fr. John's and the council's attention that the website has been visited by 32 countries other than the U.S.
