St Joseph the Worker Catholic Church
Pastoral Council

St Joseph the Worker Catholic Church
Pastoral Council

Minutes for November 8th, 2006

Those Present: Fr. John Amsberry, Dan Baisley, Claire Clow, Lynette Loumena, David Mastroieni, Bill Standley, Greg Kenney, Cliff Jensen, Lori Burmester, Marci Burton

Opening:

Father John led the group in prayer.

David Mastroieni called the meeting to order at 6:02 PM.

Old Business:

Retreat – notes form the October retreat were reviewed and progress on action items was noted.

New Business:

Archdiocesan Pastoral Assembly – David and Claire will represent St Joseph the Worker. The purpose is to coordinate parish efforts and share what works. Youth involvement is a key issue.

Parish questionnaire – 107 surveys were returned and tabulated by Claire. One comment was that the music is too loud. Father John will talk to Joe Bonneville about having an acoustical evaluation. A suggestion was to have information about the work the Council is doing added to the bulletin or newsletter. David will write an article each quarter for the newsletter and the meeting minutes will be posted on the Parish website. The Council will continue to refer to the survey responses and prioritize which items to take action on.

Men’s Group – David and Tim will put an article in the bulletin to promote this idea. Beginning in January 2007, a monthly Saturday morning meeting, for men to come together and discuss/pray about struggles specific to men. Father John will conclude the meeting by saying Mass.

Evangelization:

Father John continues to feel strongly about conducting a parish wide census; more people are needed to go door to door.

Roundtable Discussion:

Promote Family Rosary night (1st Tuesday of each month). Father will remind parishioners the Sunday prior to the next Rosary night. It was suggested that the Rosary be prayed before the 8:30 Mass each Sunday morning.

Adjournment:

Next meeting: January 10, 2007, 6 PM, in room 3.

Father John led the closing prayer. Meeting adjourned at 7:03 PM.
