Old Business
The minutes from the previous meeting were reviewed and approved.
The International Pot Luck is put on hold until Mike Jefferies can talk with Nancy Anderson about it.
Mark Butler is still working on the needs of the parish and will get back with the council when he has done more research and has more information to share.
Deacon Mike is still working on a warming center at the parish, but this winter has been relatively mild so there has not been as big of a need. He however; is in a data base for those willing to help out and whenever the need arises he will be contacted. Mike said that the Red Cross gives training on how to set up and run a warming center.
Bill was asked if he had come up with anything for the singles at the parish. Said he had not gotten anything as of yet. It was suggested that he might check with other churches to see what they have going for singles.
Round Table
Lillian mentioned how people are always standing in the narthex or sitting in the Social Room during the 8:30 am Mass where there is still seating in the church. She said she would not mind helping as usher to get them to come join the rest of the parishioners. The main concern are those in the narthex since this could be breaking a fire marshal law. It was noted that the ushers at 8:30 need to do more than collections.
Janet ordered different books for lent that will be passed out to families and other parishioners. The books are for those with children and also a different one for those without children.
Janet talked about how the youth group will be going to New Orleans this year to help those who still need help in that area. They will be gone for a week, five of those days will be for work. Janet explained how most of these trips are paid for by the fundraisers the kids do throughout the year a well as generous donations from the parishioners.
It was mentioned how much the parishioners seemed to enjoy the homily in which Fr. John had them answering questions and being part of the homily.
Closing Prayer
Father John led the closing prayer.
