Salt of the Earth
Time Required: 25 minutes
You'll need:
Clear, glass tea candle holders or empty babyfood jars Salt Colored tissue paper White glue Tea candles Sponge brushes Ribbon
Directions:
Pour some white glue into a small container. (I have found it to be better if you just thin the glue a tiny bit using a very small amount of water.) Have the children use the sponge brushes to coat the outside of each jar with the glue. Next, before the glue dries, cover the jar with bits of colored tissue paper~ a thin layer of tissue allows the light to shine through better. While the glue is still wet, roll the jar in a plate of salt. This adds a textured sparkle and the "salt of the earth". Decorate with a ribbon to tie around the top of each candle. Set them aside to dry, and place a tea candle in it.
