Pastoral Council

Minutes for September 12th, 2007

Attendance: Fr. John Amsberry, David Mastroieni, Patti LaRue, Lori Burmester, Lynette Loumena, Darlene Greiner, Tim Cook, Mark Butler, Lillian Erwin, Mike Caldwell

Not in Attendance: Bill Standley, Cathy Keathley, Cliff Jensen

Opening:

Father John led the group in prayer.

David Mastroieni called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM.

Old Business:

Approved June minutes.

God's Steward Program – Discussed which ministries the council should focus on. Ministries that were focused and agreed upon were Peace and Justice, and Evangelism which will include elements of Hospitality and Communication. Council will discuss these further at the October Planning Meeting.

Continued discussion on Serendipity and how we can help. David Mastroieni and Tim Cook will set up a meeting with Serendipity Administrators to build a working relationship.

New Business:

Fr. John discussed the importance of and the role of the Pastoral Council and it's role in the community and the importance of it's relationship with the parishioners.

Fr. John discussed upcoming events:

1.Christmas Party – Scheduled for December 9th after 10:30 am mass. Will be put on by the Knights of Columbus and the LOOP ladies.
2.Parish Mission – Will be held this coming May 2nd through May 8th.
3.RCIA New Format: RCIA will combine with the Confirmation youth on Wednesday nights for the instructional part of the session and then afterwards will break up into their own groups. Also the instructional part of RCIA will be open to the public this year.
4.Father is considering having an outdoor Pentecostal Mass.

David discussed the importance of Council members participation and attendance at the Council meetings. Also pointed out that members should go over Council By-Laws before the Planning Meeting in October.

Meeting calendar was set up for the year.

Wednesday, June 11, 2008 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm  Social Room Pot Luck - Welcome new Council Members

Planning meeting set for Saturday, October 13th, 9:00 am most likely at Cliff Jensen's house (We will know more once he confirms with David). Cliff to email members instructions on how to get to his house.

Fr. John to announce new members of sub-committee at the Planning meeting.

Discussed how we as Catholics can evangelize in our community and within our families.

Council members signed up for Greeters the third weekend of each month at all masses.

Round Table:

Parishioners concerns brought to the attention of the council.

1.Stricter dress code for the Eucharistic Ministers.
2.Better training for the Eucharistic Ministers.
3.The importance of Eucharistic Ministers showing up when scheduled.
4.Air conditioning not being used.
5.Mike Caldwell to handle Eucharistic Minister issues.

Other Concerns:

1.Possibly need ushers at the 8:30 am mass.
2.Importance of altar servers – training more youth to serve.
3.The Men's Group – will be discussed further at Planning Meeting.
4.Speaker in the nursery so that mass can be heard.

Adjournment:

Next meeting: Planning Meeting, October 13th, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, Cliff Jensen's house.

Father John led the closing prayer.

Meeting adjourned at 7:10 pm.
