Lucia Lopez was originally born in Mexico City into a devoted Catholic family where she was allowed to become involved in various ministries at a very young age. At the age of fifteen, she was brought to the US so she could attend school and work here. The transition from one culture to another and one language to another was a challenging one for her, but with the help of her teacher she was able to integrate. Lucia is married with two children and two beautiful and loving grandchildren. In the last twenty-two years, she has worked with families at risk, espcially in parent-child education. Lucia came to St. Joseph the Worker via Ascension parish where she was involved in many levels of ministry for over twenty-four years. She made the decision to move to SJTW in part because of a special mission led by previous pastor, Fr. John Amsberry, and Youth Group Coordinator, Janet Rathbone. She began attending Mass here and was delighted when a Hispanic Mass was initiated by Fr. Ted Prentice. As a SJTW employee, she is humbly grateful to provide needed support to the SJTW comunity bridging language barriers and facilitating access to sacraments and sacramental information. Lucia loves being out in nature, taking long walks and dancing.
